Psychiatric evaluation for the stabbing suspect

26-year-old Kyron Rayshawn Templeton of Texas was arrested and jailed in Gregg County in November 2013 for killing 2 people at the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Good Shepherd Medical Hospital in Longview, Texas by stabbing them. He was held on $2500000 bonds after the gruesome attack.

The victims of the incident were Gail Sandidge, a nurse who died instantly after the being stabbed; Harris Teel, a visitor who died after a few days as a result of the injuries and 3 other persons were also reported to have been injured.

The request for Templeton's psychiatric evaluation to confirm his competency to undergo the trial had been filed by his defense attorney, Kevin H. Settle in the 124th District Court. It was granted by Judge Alfonso Charles on April 18, 2017, that Templeton needs to undergo the evaluation by a psychiatric expert assigned by the court.
